Course Details

The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the purpose of various joints and how each type performs its function, maintaining a seal.

Also looked at is the reasoning behind the torque tightening of fasteners.

The course is a combination of classroom and workshop based training.

Course Content

Visually identify a range of connections:
Visually identify each connection part and explain its function
Demonstrate how to dismantle and inspect various connections
State what actions should be taken if the components are not acceptable
Demonstrate how to maintain and refurbish the various connections
Demonstrate the assembly procedure for various joint connections
Demonstrate how to tighten various connections
Understand how to identify typical problems encountered and demonstrate problem solving techniques
State how to test whether a joint is assembled correctly

Understand the principles of torque - what It is, why we torque and how torque is applied
